Advanced Health Dentistry
At Winchester Family Dentistry, we don't just focus on your oral health. We focus on the bigger picture. Your oral health could be contributing to diseases in your body & vice-versa. We want to educate our patients on the link between oral heath & full body health.
HyperHEPA air filtration
We leave no stone unturned to ensure the safety & cleanliness of our facility. High-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters are used in dentistry to reduce the number of particles and microorganisms generated during dental procedures. This can help prevent aerosol formation, which is one of the most effective ways to prevent contamination.
Diode Laser
Diode lasers are often used in non-surgical periodontal therapy because they can precisely target and treat soft tissue areas while leaving healthy tissue intact. This makes them especially useful for removing inflamed gum tissue from around the tooth's roots during scaling and root planing (SRP) and other dental procedures.
Aqueous Ozone in the Office
Ozone is used in dentistry because of its antimicrobial, disinfectant, and healing properties. It's a naturally occurring, energized form of oxygen that's non-toxic to human cells in the low concentrations used in dentistry. Ozone is a powerful oxidizer that can destroy the cell membranes of pathogens like bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, killing them 3,500 times faster than chlorine. Ozone leaves no toxic byproducts, breaking down into only water and oxygen.
Microscopy & BioFilm Sampling
Using a phased contrast microscope to test your oral biofilm. These biofilms are associated with a variety of oral diseases, including dental caries and periodontal disease, and can make it difficult to control and eradicate harmful bacteria. This allows us to personalize your dental treatment.
Airflow Prophylaxis
Airflow prophylaxes is a dental procedure that uses a high-pressure jet of air, water, and anti-microbial powder to remove plaque, tartar, stains, and bacteria from teeth and gums. It can also clean periodontal pockets, and is a good whitening treatment without the use of whitening products.
VELscope
A Velscope is a handheld device that can help dentists and dental hygienists detect oral abnormalities that aren't visible to the naked eye. The Velscope uses blue light to illuminate the mouth and observe tissue fluorescence, which can reveal problem areas that might otherwise be hidden. Healthy tissue absorbs the blue light and appears green, while darker areas indicate potential issues.
